One of the most affordable rides on the road is getting a whole lot of upgrades when the 2020 Nissan Versa releases later this summer.

Summertime means sun, shades, sports and a new model year for Nissan vehicles. Not to be left out, the 2020 Nissan Versa is just around the corner. The Versa has long been one of the most affordable cars consumers can purchase, with the 2019 edition coming in at just $12,460 MSRP.
In the past, that meant the subcompact was rather light on amenities and technology. The upcoming release is changing up the equation with a total redesign that brings a ton of upgrades. Here’s the details on the all-new tech, look and feel of the 2020 Nissan Versa.

The 2020 Nissan Versa was first unveiled back in April at Rock the Ocean’s Tortuga Music Festival. As Nissan described in a press release, the automaker partnered with Live Nation to roll out the redesigned Versa mid-performance of country star Kane Brown.
“First impressions are exceptionally important, which is why we are thrilled to introduce the all-new 2020 Versa directly to our customers in such a memorable way,” said Claudia Marquez, vice president of sales operations, Nissan North America, Inc. “The Versa is our first impression into the Nissan family. I believe that when customers see this beautiful new car and all the amazing technology that comes with it for the price, they will be part of the Nissan family for life.”
Despite already leading the pack for subcompact sedan sales, Nissan isn’t resting on their laurels. The automaker sees the 2020 revamped Versa as perfectly placed to cash in on other automakers abandoning sedans. With over five million Americans still purchasing such vehicles each year, there is still plenty of chances to prosper in the segment.
“As other nameplates exit the field, we see a real opportunity to build our segment-leading market share and nurture this crucial group of new-car buyers. More importantly, the new dramatic Nissan Versa design and jam packed list of features will ensure that customers feel confident they made no compromises in that first purchase,” said Marquez.
Nissan’s new Versa Tech and Performance
One big focus of the many new features found in the 2020 Nissan Versa is technology. Nissan has brought down many high-tech tools and tricks normally only found on more-expensive vehicles.
One example is that Nissan Safety Shield 360 is making an appearance in the 2020 edition. New standard safety features range from Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection and Rear Automatic Braking to Lane Departure Warning and High Beam Assist. For a little extra drivers can even add in Blind Spot Warning, REar Cross Traffic Alert, Intelligent Driver Alertness and Intelligent Cruise Control.
Safety isn’t the only area where the 2019 Nissan Versa reaches a new technological tier. Advanced standard features such as remote keyless entry, push button start and power windows are being brought to an all-new low price in the Versa. Available additions include heated front seats, Automatic Climate Control, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
All of these technologies will aid the impressive next-generation 1.6-liter 4-cylinder engine under the hood, capable of 122 horsepower and 114 pound-feet of torque. The 2019 Nissan Versa features a choice of enhanced Xtronic transmission or 5-speed manual.
2020 Nissan Versa Interior Quality
New Year, New Body
The 2020 Nissan Versa sports an extensively-upgraded look and feel, with many interior improvements and a new sleek, sexy shape.
The Versa is taking cues from bigger brothers Altima and Maxima to follow Nissan’s new “Emotional Geometry” deisgn language, at a fraction of the price. A new v-motion grille, boomerang-shaped head and tail lamps, kick-up C-pillars and a floating roof have all been handed down to the Versa’s 2020 edition. The upgrades are packed into a lower, wider and longer exterior without sacrificing the roomy interior space the Versa is known for.
“This third-generation Versa design is all about the proportion and stance, to the point where we expect people to look at it and say, ‘Wow, is that a Versa?'” said Giovanny Arroba, program design director, Nissan Global Design Center, Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. “The wheels are pushed out, there’s an imposing grille presence, everything about it says lower, wider, longer.”
Expensive-styled Interior for an Inexpensive Price
The 2020 Nissan Versa boasts more borrowed design from the Maxima and Altima inside, without the associated costs.
The “Gliding Wing” instrument panel has been copied, bringing an expanded interior feel using a light and sleek “wingspan” design. The new spatial symmetry is meant to tie the entire interior experience together like never before. The new horizontal architecture, featuring open spaces and matching materials, make the Versa feel far more expensive than it really is.
“Just as the new Versa democratizes the availability of advanced Nissan Intelligent safety features across the sedan lineup, we’ve done the same with design details construction such as the use of daring and bold body surface treatments that are usually found on vehicles one level up,” said Arroba. “The new Versa design is more tailored and matured than you’d expect to find in an entry-level vehicle.
