Already one of the country’s hottest SUVs, the Nissan Rogue Sport will heat things up even further in 2020. Here’s the latest on what Nissan is brewing up.
New Year, New Sport
The 2020 model year is just months away and details of what Nissan will bring to the table are starting to release. Nissan recently revealed some of the major improvements the 2020 Rogue Sport will be making to change things up compared to the 2019 edition. Slated for a fall 2019 release date, the 2020 Rogue Sport will see major upgrades in two key areas: styling and safety.
Enhanced Exterior Styling
The most apparent change coming to the 2020 Nissan Rogue Sport is a revamped exterior design. The front end will see the most change, rebuilt to provide “a more technical feel” than the non-Sport version of the Rogue.
The front face of the SUV will see a new fascia, with a new hood, Vmotion grille and bumper to stand apart from the Rogue. A new lighting treatment will also be included, featuring LED signature Daytime Running Lights.
While the Rogue Sport will receive a face lift, the backside of this SUV will also get a few touch-ups. Notably, a newly-improved “combination light design” matching the front will be added.
The Rogue Sport will also see a splash of color added to the palette. New 19-inch aluminum-alloy wheels will sparkle and shine alongside two additional color choices: Nitro Lime Metallic and Monarch Orange Metallic.
Standard Nissan Safety Shield 360
The 2020 Nissan Rogue sport will be safer than ever, thanks to the standardization of the Nissan Safety Shield 360 system. This advanced suite of protective technologies is currently only standard on the SV and SL trims. In 2020, all Rogue Sports will sport the suite, including the most basic S grade. Nissan says that 2020 drivers will be able to enjoy an exhaustive list of safety features, including:
- Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection
- Rear Automatic Braking
- Lane Departure Warning (LDW)
- Radar-based Blind Spot Warning (BSW)
- Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA)
- High Beam Assist (HBA)
Returning Favorites
While all this new technology and transformation is great, the 2020 Nissan Rogue Sport will still feature many of the 2019 edition’s best bits. Nissan confirmed that 2019’s smash hit Rear Door Alert system won’t be leaving the standard feature set anytime soon. Likewise, ProPILOT Assist will return as an available option for drivers in need of driving aids.
Customers will be able to choose from three flavors of the Sport, including the S, SV and SL trim tiers. Both front-wheel drive and Intelligent All-Wheel Drive will once again be options. Last but not least, 2019’s successful 141-horsepower 2.0-liter DOHC 16-valve inline 4-cylinder engine will power the 2020 Rogue Sport, alongside the returning Xtronic transmission with Eco Mode switch.
