In a review for Cars.com, Nick Kurczewski had ten great things to say about one of the hottest crossover SUVs, the new 2019 Nissan Murano.
The Murano Strikes Back
This model year has seen a lot of shake-ups in the crossover SUV world, with a range of new and updated options hitting the market. To keep up with the neighbors, Nissan tricked out their 2019 Nissan Murano with some new improvements and additions. Cars.com took the Murano for a spin and had a lot to say about one of America’s hottest crossover SUVs.
Reviewer Nick Kurczewski said the Murano “offers a smooth ride, a strong and efficient V-6 engine, and a sizable list of safety features.” Child safety was also a big victory, as the crossover SUV’s score topped the Cars.com charts for safety seat installation.
For details on those merits and more, here is the breakdown on why Kurczewski and crew came to praise the 2019 Nissan Murano.
Top-Tier Safety Rating, Nissan Safety Shield 360 Protection
Cars.com was a big fan of the safety features present in the newly-updated 2019 Nissan Murano. From proactive protection to placing a child seat safely and securely, the crossover SUV offered impressive performance.
The car site noted that Murano received a perfect five-star overall safety rating from the prestigious National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration. They also mentioned that the 2019 model year was yet to receive a rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. However, the cars site highlighted that the 2018 edition won top marks almost across the board, minus only a minor hit on headlights.
A big reason for this high level of safety is the inclusion of the Nissan Safety Shield framework. Cars.com praised inclusion of standard safety features such as forward collision warning, blind spot warning and rear cross-traffic alert.
The 2019 Nissan Murano SL trim tested by Cars.com came with an additional suite of safety features. The car site praised the collection of safety measures which included emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, rear automatic braking and more.
Luxurious Front Seating, Easy Child Seat Installation
Comfort is important whenever you take a trip in your car of choice. Cars.com found the 2019 Nissan Murano’s front-seat sitting experience superb. With plenty of padding, and available heated and ventilated front seats, the crossover SUV offers comfort and class.
Elaborated upon in a separate article, Cars.com made mention that child seat installation was especially easy in the Murano. The crossover SUV scored grade A marks for latch, infant, rear-facing convertible, forward-facing convertible and booster seat installation ease and safety.
Impressive Power, Fuel Efficiency
All the comfort and safety in the world are pointless if your vehicle doesn’t have some get-up-and-go under the hood. Cars.com found that the 2019 Nissan Murano had no trouble pushing to the limit. The car site found the Murano’s 3.5-liter V6 engine provided smooth, comfortable power to the standard front-wheel drive and optional all-wheel drive.
Perhaps partly due to the relaxed choice of engine, Cars.com was impressed by the fuel efficiency of the 2019 Nissan Murano. Coming in at 20/28/23 miles per gallon on city, highway and combined, the crossover SUV crushed the competing Chevy Blazer and Honda Passport.
Sexy Looks, Stable Feel
The 2019 Nissan Murano is a stunner that sticks out from the competition. Cars.com found that this year the crossover SUV sports a “slightly bolder” front grille. New lighting comes in the form of LED headlights and taillights, all the better to accent the new pain and wheel options. Imitation is the most sincere form of flattery; the car site made note that the iconic floating roof first introduced by the Murano has been copied by competitors.
Looking good is great, and feeling good is even greater. Cars.com praised the stability and quietness of the 2019 Nissan Murano, especially on large wheels. 20-inch alloy wheels can make any SUV rough and tumble, but the car site found no such issues in the Murano.
Mega Multimedia, Superb Space
Tuning into the hottest tunes is easier than in any Murano before, thanks to an upgraded multimedia system. Cars.com noted that while it isn’t the most advanced on the market, it does sport support for both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, unlike some competitors. The car site also praised the ease of use of the system, in part due to continued inclusion of physical knobs many automakers are cutting out.
Cargo capacity is another strong area for the 2019 Nissan Murano. Rated for 31.1 to 32.1 ft (65 to 67 ft with seat area) there’s a lot of room for your toys and tools in the back. Cars.com did note that while it isn’t the highest in crossover SUV segment, the Murano isn’t far off.
Combined with all else it has to offer, this year’s Murano is a great choice for your next crossover SUV.
